Three Words that Best Describe Kayla:  Enthusiastic, Empathetic, Driven

Artistry and Special Skills:  Kayla specializes in dance, but also loves visual art, theater, and music.  Her favorite styles of dance to teach are tap, ballet, theater dance, and creative movement.

Kayla was born and raised in Buffalo, New York.  She has been dancing since she was only three years old and hasn’t stopped since.  She has her BFA in Dance and her BS in Interdisciplinary Arts for Children from State University of New York, The College at Brockport.  She specializes in using the arts to teach children the core subjects.

Childcare Experience:  Kayla has been babysitting for over ten years, and has experience with children of all ages.  Some of her past responsibilities include being a chaperone to children at various events, cooking child-friendly meals, and  nighttime and morning routines for various sized families. She loves to work with families consistently to see the children develop, learn, and grow, but also finds joy in getting to know new kids as well!

She started in childcare with her younger cousins and nieces and nephews. Before college, she worked with children who have autism, and discovered how much the arts impact their lives in a positive way.  This led to her desire to get her degree in Interdisciplinary Arts for Children, where she learned about how the arts can be used to teach children core classes, and enrich their education.  In her classes in school, she learned many different activities in dance, visual art, theater and music to do with children.

Kayla is also a dance educator and has taught dance to children and adults of varying levels.

Personal Interests:  Kayla’s main interest is dance, and all of her other interests are derived from her passion for dance. She loves fitness, and can be found taking barre classes in the city to help strengthen her muscles for dance.  She also loves all kinds of food, and loves to explore different restaurants around the city.  Coffee is something that she cannot live without, and used to work as a barista.  If an activity is creative, active, or educational, Kayla wants to participate in it.

Personal Quote:  “The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of childhood into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm.”-Aldous Huxley
