Helena was born and raised in Maryland, right outside of Washington, DC.  She received her BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

Childcare Experience:  Helena has been caring for children since the age of 13, when she started as a mother’s helper in her neighborhood.  Since then, she has cared for children of all ages, developing long-lasting relationships with families in New York and the DC area.  In addition to at-home babysitting, Helena has worked as a camp counselor leading as many as 15 children in theater arts-related activities.  In 2010, she founded and ran a two-week summer theater day camp for children ages 7-12 in her community.  Thanks to her years of acting, Helena loves to draw out and creatively engage with kids’ boundless imaginations.  Playing pretend, acting out favorite stories and making up silly songs are some of her favorite activities.  Acting has also made her quick to improvise solutions in tough situations, always putting safety and kids’ well-being first.

Personal Interests:  In her spare time, Helena attempts to see as many new works of theater as possible! When not at the theater or in the rehearsal room, Helena can be found reading in cosy coffee shops, sewing pillows for her apartment, or cooking dinner for good friends.  She loves exploring all New York City has to offer, from inspiring museums to fascinating historical neighborhoods.   Helena is naturally outgoing loves making new friends of all ages.

Personal Quote:  “I believe that every child’s mind is rich with ideas to be drawn out, questions to be explored and creativity to be tapped.  I am always inspired by the endless inventiveness of the kids I am lucky enough to work with.  Let’s play!”
