Emily G.H.

Three Words that Best Describe Emily:  Boundless, Industrious, Silly

Artistry and Special Skills:  Acting, shower singing, beginner banjo player, Lego building

Emily grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and has lived in New York City since 2008. She graduated with a BFA in drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, though her family would say she was born with a degree in drama.

Childcare Experience:  Emily has been babysitting for as long as she can remember. She has experience with children of all ages, from  tiny newborns to slightly bigger teenagers, and everything in between. She has babysat for families with one child and for families with three children and three playdates- as long as we’re all having fun adventures, bring it on! With each age comes different responsibilities, so Emily has done everything from expert cooing and swaddling, to building mega magna-tile structures, from transforming herself into a professional makeup artist and model, to becoming a hockey game cheerleader. Emily has worked with children with a variety of needs, including physical and developmental handicaps. She has worked with families with pets and with families with scooters- which in New York is an adventure in itself! Emily is also a certified financial literacy coach, and spent a summer as a councilor at Camp Millionaire, a camp that teaches children about money management. Emily believes that with a balance of respect and playfulness, she and the children she works with can learn and laugh and grow with each other.

Personal Interests:  Emily can eat more cookies than your biggest cookie monster- so in order to feed that cookie passion, she bakes! She also loves reading, to herself and out loud to your little ones. Emily has two cats and a canine brother who she adores, but doesn’t limit her love to the fuzzy variety- bring on the snakes and lizards! In her spare time, Emily pursues her other passion, travel, trying to visit a new country every year. This year’s adventure took her to France, Spain, Finland, Sweden, and England.  She loves Spanish and is trying very hard to learn more French. Most importantly, Emily would be bored out of her mind if she had to pretend to be a “grown-up” all the time, so she love love loves playing and having adventures with kids!

Personal Quote:  To be around children is to see the world as they see it. I hope to keep their eyes wide open while they grow and explore and experience as much as possible. Through the lens of my artistry, I hope the children I am lucky enough to work with are able to feel the beauty and optimism in everything they see and do.
