Carli-RhoadesCarli R.

Three Words that Best Describe Carli:  Reliable, Patient, Life-Enthusiast

Artistry and Special Skills:  Actor, Storyteller, Singer, Dancer, amateur Painter, and Cookie-Maker

Carli was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota.  She graduated from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama.

Childcare Experience:  Carli’s experience working with children started at home: She grew up in her mother’s child care and pre-school business focusing on activities that incorporate fun, learning, and occupational therapy. She has worked in the pre-school for eight years, as a teacher’s assistant in several specialty classroom programs (even one on a farm!), and has a lifetime of experience working specifically with children with special needs both at home and in educational environments: she has two younger brothers who have developmental delays and other needs and has worked with children of all ages and needs in school and at their homes as well.  Though she loves children of all ages, she has a particularly soft place in her heart for infants and pre-schoolers.

Personal Interests:  Carli is a lover of theatre, reading, and music.  Her favorite games as a child were imaginative—and now playing pretend is her profession!  She is passionate about supporting children’s natural curiosities and finding opportunities every day to teach children life skills as well as academic concepts and new ways to express themselves.  Even a walk around the block can be filled with opportunities to learn! She loves to learn new languages and know basics of French, German, and Russian and has a conversational understanding of American Sign Language. Carli is also a Chronic Cookie Baker and an Avid Crafting Junkie.  Children often find that she shares their sense of wonder and curiosity.

Personal quote:  “As a theatre artist, I have worked with people of all ages, walks of life, and cultures around the world, and I find that across the board children understand better than anyone that we are all here to share our stories with each other.  I am passionate about giving all children opportunities to explore their own worlds and helping them discover the means to express themselves to the rest of us.  It is so important for children to feel loved, valued, and heard, and I am committed to providing that trust for all the children I care for.”
